Upcoming Webinars for February, March and April

As Phase 1, 2, 3 and 4a users now have access to Compass we have put together a plan for the remaining webinar support that will be offered from HQ during this reintroduction phase.

The following webinars are in response to positive feedback about the webinars and requests that:

  • We do more frequent walkthroughs of Compass and more in-depth walkthroughs of Atlantic Data
  • We alternate the day of the week webinars are held to accommodate members who have fixed evening plans (like leading a Section)

The below webinars will be offered in February and March. You can join the webinar at any point in the evening using the related link.

Please note that, whilst you are welcome to ask questions using the Q & A function these will likely not be answered until after the webinar and individual cases should be dealt with by contacting the Information Centre.

Recordings and Q&A notes will be posted to this Latest Updates page a few days after each webinar.

Compass Updates 12th February 2016

Updates to Compass since  the 9th February 2016

Over the past few days we have made a few changes to Compass and the support website on the back of the feedback you have been providing to us.

Updates to Compass –

  • County/Region(Scot)/Area and District Membership Directory report has been updated to resolve an issue with filtering columns.
  • Scout Active Support Manager role set up amended to enable members with this role to use the messaging features and export search results.

Further update – 3pm

  • Group Training report has been made available to those who hold the Group Scout Leader or Group Scout Leader (Acting Role).
  • Regional Training report has been made available to those who hold the Regional Commissioner Role.

New FAQs added based on your questions, feedback and reported issues –

A Member has left Scouting but they still have a disclosure request in Atlantic Data. What do I need to do?

When I add the role of Assessor to someone, why does the PLP which is added to their training page show two different versions of Module 25?

I am trying to grant a permit, but the Granting Commissioner I want to select isn’t showing as an option?

I have an assessor role on Compass, but it doesn’t give me access to make recommendations for permits.

Updates to Compass since  the 2nd February 2016

Over the past few days we have made a few changes to Compass and the support website on the back of the feedback you have been providing to us.

Updates to Compass –

  • Compass functionality for Group Scout Leaders, District Explorer Scout Commissioner, Scout Network Commissioner, Scout Active Support Manager and Local Development Officer is now available – click here to see who can do what on Compass.
  • Line managers have been set for roles (where possible – See FAQs below) to enable the line manager to be selected for members.
  • Superuser role set up amended to enable the change of section drop-down within a members role.

New FAQs added based on your questions, feedback and reported issues –

I have ended a Member’s provisional role. However, it is still showing as ‘Provisional’ rather than ‘Closed’, but with an end date saved. Why is this?

Why is Compass sometimes slow when I use it late at night?

Why does it not give me any options of line managers to assign for Explorer Scout Leaders?

I want to add a Member in an ‘Acting’ role, e.g. acting GSL or acting DC, as a Member’s line manager. However, they do not appear as an available option to select. Why is this?

Do I need to have assigned a line manager to make a role full?

Do I need to have set a review date to make a role full?

A Member’s disclosure is showing in Compass as ‘Pending’, but there is also an Issue Date and an Expiry Date showing. What does this mean?

Do I need to ‘select location’ at each level to add a role to a Member?

How long does it take for a new adult or role to appear in the reports?
